The Guyana Defence Force (GDF) staged its first ever “Day for Veterans” yesterday. Wreaths were laid in honour of the ‘departed’ military personnel who served in British Guiana and in Guyana.The event was graced by the various heads of the Discipline Forces and special invitees. There were surviving veterans, among them Ret’d Col. Carl Morgan; Brigadier David Granger,Joe McKnight USC Jersey, members of the Guyana Legion and the Benevolent Association.The “Day for Veterans” will now be an annual event to honour all brave and fallen soldiers on the second Friday in November.According to Chief of Staff Commodore Gary Best,Cesc Fabregas Chelsea Jersey UK, some have died and lived with various stories of their experiences in the Military.
